Being on stage is an escape.
It’s the only escape
Where you come face to face
With the very things your running from.
Being on stage is a trip.
A constant tip toe balance
Between being seen for who you are
And being anyone you want.
Being on stage is a lesson in self love
Even when you see no love in a hundred eyes.
It’s a slap in your face every time.
A reminder that the opposite of love is indifference.
Being on stage is a high like no other.
The power of sparking little fires in hearts
Nothing in front of the humility of knowing
You can never fully control it.
Being on stage is just like being in life.
You can pretend cajole
Jostle hustle bamboozle all you want
But both beings boil down to just being okay
With being.
